The classic elegance of the Mansard

The Mansard style, with elegant slopping roof atop a dormer was popularized by reformation French architect Fran├žois Mansart and bears his name. In the United States, especially in New England, the style spread to family residences and mansions, the Everitt House being a fine example of the style. The view from the Everitt House Mansard Room is superb as it gazes to the east towards New York in these pictures showing the full color of fall, while to the west, the windows look across to the dome of Centenary College, one of New Jersey's leading colleges.
